Blackbridge Defense, producing blast-proof coolers, gets Air Force R&D funding
There is a great article at TechLink about the new Blast Proof Cooler developed in conjunction with the US Army. Below is an excerpt and a link tot the article.
Founder David Burnett said Thursday that the SBIR Phase I award from the Air Force allows the company to speed its research and development of the cooler for military use, specifically for transporting whole blood and organs.
"This Air Force award has galvanized our determination to get this cooler in the hands of all DOD personnel!" Burnett said in an email. "Although during the 22.3 SBIR cycle, this technology was not selected for funding, we never quit at Blackbridge. After revising our proposal and having more confidence going into the 22.4 cycle, we resubmitted."
Burnett said the company's objective is to establish committed and empowered stakeholders and partner with the Air Force on developing new standards for temperature-sensitive human blood transportation necessary for lifesaving transfusions.
